#204 Junction Bench

The Junction, our home for 13+ years and counting... So we built a bench and name it in honor of our home. Its where our store is, it where our workshop is and it's home.

#205 Up and Down Bench

Our most popular bench design goes along with our most popular harvest table design, the Up and Down! These benches feature a clean and contermporay look with a U shaped metal base, add a  2" slab of reclaimed wood or new hardwood and you have one beautiful piece'.

These are made to order and are finished to any stain colour! The perfect addition to any dining table.

#206 No. 11 Pew Bench

If you ever wonder how Martin and the workshop create our tables, benches and accessories, the bench Martin brought in today is a good example. This was the prototype for our Number 10 Bench, but in the end, they decided to go for the model we now regularly have. There are a couple of differences in this bench, the most obvious being the straight edge of the seat as opposed to the voluptuous curve of the No. 10. Less obvious is the top of the seat back, it is flat on the No. 10s in store. However, perhaps due to the pews available to Martin at the time, this has a curved edge almost like a violin scroll (yes, I had to google 'violin diagram' to find out what that is called). We've decided to call it the No. 11 Pew Bench. Right now this is a one-of-a-kind, but, we are open to making more.

#201 When is a bench a door?

Long before the advent of the door there was the bench. Now you’re probably thinking, what has a bench got to do with a door, well nothing and everything. Long ago in homes big and small, one could freely move from one room to another without obstacle. That was a time of no doors, therefore little privacy and lots of interruptions.

As human beings, we are social creatures, we play together, work together and of course, we live together. On that note, after the advent of the home came the advent of the house guest. Now one could hardly have a guest over without something to sit on, thus the creation of the bench. Why with all these rooms and people living together one could hardly have a private conversation. This was a serious problem and like all problems, man would devise a solution. To limit interruptions early man simply placed a bench in the entranceway and had his guest sit on it, thus blocking anyone from entering the room and interrupting a conversation no matter how trivial the subject. Benches you could say were the first doors.

What has this got to do with anything you ask? Forever Interiors makes benches from reclaimed doors.
